Violet Mbiti Foundation SPARK project with Uraia Trust in Machakos County and successes.
Violet Mbiti Foundation is a non-political advocacy civil society organisation working at the grassroots to empower vulnerable and marginalized citizens to claim their rights in local development and governance processes. Our work is centered around the thematic area of Governance and Devolution that employs an advocacy strategy that ensures policies, laws and priority development initiatives are in favour of vulnerable and marginalized people.
We currently have 85 budget champions trained on the budget making process as Trainers of Trainers to enable them cascade the knowledge to the village level.This has been made possible courtesy of our partnership in Machakos County with Uraia Trust and International Budget Partnership Kenya.In Nairobi County this has been made possible by being members of MNH Association and receiving support from Options Consultancy Ltd based in UK.
We are the convenor of Machakos and Nairobi County Budget Champions who are a collective of public finance management, transparency and accountability advocates working across various wards.They comprise religious institutions (Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims, National Council of Churches of Kenya, Evangelical Alliance of Kenya and Seventh Day Adventist), Civil Society Organizations and Media.The collective focuses on advocacy efforts in various sectors, aiming to promote inclusivity and equity in the distribution of public resources.
